Happy Friday everyone.
We are at the end of what has been a very busy week for the children - lots of sport this week, three P.E. lessons, so a super fit year 4. We have also worked hard to complete our work on the Lion and the Unicorn and our time work, beginning to work on Shape in Maths. Also this week... On Monday, the class looked at Human Anatomy in Science, explored healthy lifestyles in PSHE, worked on our fielding and striking skills in P.E. and showed off our reasoning skills when discussing time and shape in Maths. In the afternoon, we were lucky enough to watch the dress rehearsal of the year 5/6 performance of Aladdin Trouble - which was awesome! On Tuesday, we had P.E. with year 3 and French and Geography with Mrs Nuthall. On Friday, we were lucky enough to be visited by a group who have worked with the children to prepare for the Whiddon Down Music Festival. The children had a great time, playing games to help them warm up their voices and then there was some spectacular singing. The children are working on songs to sing in a concert in September, when they are in year 5. Next week, in preparation for the Summer holidays, the children will be clearing their trays and bringing their books home on Tuesday, so could they have either an empty school bag or a carrier bag with them on Tuesday please. They will have their Move Up Morning on Wednesday. We will have P.E. on Tuesday with Mrs Jordan our P.E. coach and on Friday, after our Leaver's Assembly, there will be an opportunity for children to bring in games and we will watch a film, which we will vote on early next week. Have a great weekend, see you on Monday. Mr F Happy Friday everyone. We are at the end of what has been a very busy week for the children - lots of sport this week, including Sports Day, which was very well received by children and adults alike. Well done to Miss Collins for organising a spectacular North Tawton Community Olympics. Also this week... we have been working hard on our English writing task of writing in role as an evacuee. The children have really used the skill of empathy to put themselves in the mindset of somebody being evacuated and the emotions that they would be experiencing. Their writing has been truly powerful to read and they are currently compiling their writes into an extended piece. On Monday, the class looked at Human Anatomy in Science, explored healthy lifestyles in PSHE, worked on our athletics skills in P.E. and showed off our reading skills when exploring our new class book Poems from a Green and Blue Planet and finally, created and flew some very colourful kites on Rainbow Day, whilst wearing clothes to express ourselves. As always, please read with and practise times tables with your children, the Maths home learning sheet will be out on Wednesday, as will spellings. Please practise, sing, talk about and chant times tables as often as you can as this makes such a difference to our children's fluency and ability to solve problems quickly. Next week, we have a busy week, with P.E. on Wednesday and Friday. We will complete work on our excellent English text The Lion and the Unicorn and Mrs Nuthall will continue our Geography topic of Natural resources and our Science topic of Human Anatomy. Have a great weekend, see you on Monday. Mr F |
