The week has flown by, Lucy and the fairy have returned back from their holiday and brought some lovely colouring pencils to use all the way from Cyprus!
Autumn is in the air and we collected acorns, rosemary, lavender, and leaves to create all sorts with the playdough. Our shape hunt continues and even though the days have been chilly the children have opened an ice cream shop on the decking. The most exciting thing happened in our garden, thanks to Sophie's Mum we now have fish in the pond! They join our resident newts, frogs, dragonflies, and bugs. Another reminder - Please return your Christmas card designs with payment. Quote For The Week - 'All you need is faith and a little bit of pixie dust. Stay cosy and see you next week... EY Team. We started the week by rescuing a sunflower that had blown down in the wind and measured it to see if it was bigger or smaller than Mel. We then used yellow, brown and green paint to create sunflower pictures. A little person felt so creative that they used the floor and a canvas!
We have been reminding each other of our feelings and 'The Colour Monster' story has helped us to sort them out. Our 2D shape sorters helped us to look for shapes in our learning space and the dinosaurs have been stomping in play dough. Have you been told about the fairy? She snuck into Lucy's bag and went on an adventure! Reminder - Please return survey's and Christmas card designs when complete. Deadline 12th October! Quote for the week - "We are all golden sunflowers inside." Karen and the team. The sun has shone and we have continued to spend lots of time outside in the mud kitchen, it turned into an 'apple' kitchen and lots of collecting, mashing, chopping, mixing, and cooking has been going on. The children have been looking at mirror images of themselves and drawing what they recognised. Shaving foam has played a big part in our week! Along with some amazing apple art and calm moments enjoying stories.
Thought for the week - A child who reads will be an adult that thinks. It has been a lovely week in Acorn class, we have reconnected with familiar friends and making new friends too! The children have been talking about their families, pets, and homes connecting to our topic 'Unique me.' We have been caring for babies in the home corner, hunting for spiders on the decking, enjoying the grass area, making apple pies in the mud kitchen, counting with the help of numicon, painting on paper and each other! There was a mystery as the lion went missing from 'Dear Zoo' and most of the children searched and found him hiding in Amelia's tray.
Forest School will be starting next Wednesday - Please provide wellies and wet weather gear. Quote of the week: A messy child is a sign of a good day :) Have a calm bank holiday weekend, see you on Tuesday. Karen, Sophie, Lucy, and Mel. Welcome to September and hello to our new parents and friends that have joined us, it's lovely to share our wonderful learning environment with you. Each week on the blog we will post a snippet of what's gone on throughout the week.
Our little acorns found some little acorns today. Thought of the week - "Autumn shows us how beautiful it is to let things go." EY Team. What a year it has been!

Hope to see you at tomorrow's Summer Fair! EY Team What a busy two weeks it has been and only three to go until the end of term.
We continue with our topic learning 'Ready, steady' go' and have been practicing two new songs as well as recognising the seven different Continents of the world. The children have been reminding each other of how to make a friend feel happy and what it might feel like if your sad, The 'Colour monster' came to visit again. Rainbows have been painted and drawn, 2D pictures created, animals grouped and sorted, Letters and sound practiced and Numicon has helped us with counting and quantity. Next Wednesday we will be having some visitors (please see sent email) Quote for the week - Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud. Thanks, EY. Another week full of learning and fun in nursey, we continue with our topic 'ready, steady, go' This week it took us to countries around the world, we have learnt to say Hello in nine different languages! and identified and recreated flags. We have challenged ourselves on the climbing equipment outside and found cool spots to play some singing games. Math has been explored with the help of Numicon and our letters and sounds practiced using wipe boards and markers.
Quote for the week - Sunshine, the most precious gold to be found on earth. EY Team. |
