Along with the learning, exploring and fun that happens everyday in Nursery we have been to the moon and back, explored other galaxies, created aliens, tried to catch a star and then we ventured across the world to China where dragons dance, drums bang, and new year celebrations start Sunday.
'Kung Hei Fat Choi' Quote of the week - 'Let the dragon guide you and keep you safe on your adventures in the New Year' EY Team Friday's always come around so fast!
We've welcomed seven new friends into Acorn Class since the start of term and I'd like to welcome all our new families. Our weekly blog can be found on the school website and is also updated to dojo. The topic for this half term is 'Adventures and time travel' and we started with a question 'How do you catch a star?' the children had some very interesting ideas... - "You need a rocket ship to get it." - "I'd stand on Peter Rabbit, Lily and Benjamin." - "A giant could reach a star." Along with our topic we've been building with magnetic Lego, sorting colours and size with Pom Poms, mark making on whiteboards, sharing stories and more! Please remember to supply a change of clothes for your child along with a water bottle and healthy morning snack. If your child uses the toilet independently leggings and loose fitting bottoms are best to avoid accidents. Quote for the week - "Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket." EY Team Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and stay cosy over the festive season.
See you all in 2023! Karen, Sophie, Lucy and Mel. - Winter Weather
- Keeping Cosy - Christmas Feast - Christmas Surprises - Bethlehem - Baby Jesus - Christmas Presents - Winter Yoga .... and so so so much more! See you next week! EY Team This week the children have enjoyed the circle sensory tiles by taking off their shoes and socks, exploring the different textures under their feet - "Bumpy" "Tickling my toes" "circley circles"
A spontaneous picnic created by some of our children this afternoon using the roleplay objects, some played with the fairies and built houses with the wooden logs, and we have also focused on number quantity this week by using Karen's tiny animals with playdough. Quote of the week - "Toes will always be at the end of your feet but the start of your journey" EY Team During the week we have been working on positional language with the help of our happy land village, working together with large construction, recognising number and quantity, retelling know stories, and creating a coral reef in the water tray.
In between the rain showers we have enjoyed damp autumn walks to feed the fish in the pond and lots of pudsey fun have been going on today, sorting socks, painting faces, wiggling toes, drawing pudsey bear, and lots more. Quote of the week - 'Giving is not just making a donation. It's about making a difference.' EY Team Quote Of The Week - "If we are to create peace in the world, we must begin with our children." - Muhatma Gandhi EY Team A week gone by already. It has been lovely to see all our friends back after half term and I hope you all had a restful week. This week has been filled with treasure hunts and pirates along with musical instruments, firework art, problem solving and building, mark making and so much more.
We have a new friend in Acorn class, Bert the Bear has joined us for small group times And he is really helpful reminding us how to be 'thinkers', how to keep our bodies calm, use our listening ears and natter with our friends. If you are out and about on a dark evening over the weekend stay cosy and keep safe. Quote for the week - Every firework begins with a spark. EY Team What do we know about spiders?
They like to dance They do not make cobwebs, they make webs Spider begins with S You can find them in the bath They have eight legs and lots of eyes... Just a few answers to a week long question. We have also been testing our memories at group time, exploring the trim trail, playing with the parachute, finding out about Diwali and getting gloopy with corn flour and water. Have a lovely half term everyone, EY team Can you see what we've been up to this week? - Cutting and sticking natural objects, being creative, exploring different textures like the clay and jelly bath, hunting for shapes in the Kandinsky print, and evil pea is back on the loose.
We ended the week with a Dingle Dangle Scarecrow Day, celebrating the harvest festival. Thank you to those that brought in a donation. Quote of the week - "I've come to save you a journey: said the scarecrow, at least partly to save you a journey and partly to save myself from missing it." - Worzel Gummidge EY Team :) |
