The children have all embraced the 'Hot and Cold' theme this week, which is great because it was very, very hot. The children have enjoyed learning about animals that live in hot and cold countries, spotting hot and cold countries on the globe, mixing colours, practising our number form 1-10 and beyond, exercising and the effects it has on our bodies and of course lots of wet play. Take a look...
This week the children have really enjoyed our Zog Theme. We have completed lots of activities including a shape hunt, creating our own shields and wands, dragon phonics, exercising on the Trim Trail and ending the week, joining Miss Prince and Oak Class, doing some Forest School activities in the Orchard.
Here are some photographs of what we have been up to... This week the children have enjoyed learning about space, and what is in space. We have listened to space songs, learning about the planets, made alien headbands, rockets and even rockets they can sit in. Here are some pictures of what we have been doing...
This week we have been enjoying a Space Theme, with our books 'Aliens Love Underpants' and 'Aliens in Underpants Save the World'. The children have enjoyed making rockets to zoom through space with, learning the planet names, painting planets outside and making their own marbled effect planets.
We have enjoyed the story of the Gingerbread Man this week. The children have all enjoyed being creative making felt gingerbread men running on our very own background of fields and sky, stain glass gingerbread men and designing our very own gingerbread men/women.
We have been concentrating on 'Numbers' this week counting from 0-10, recognising numerals 0-5 and ordering numerals 1-10. Here are some photos of what we have been up to. The children have had a fantastic week continuing to explore our Safari theme, by focussing on the story 'Rumble in the Jungle'. We have enjoyed getting creative and messy in our expressive arts area and enjoying the patches of sunny weather throughout the week.
The children have loved painting outside, creating shape elephants, building with the construction blocks and matching numbered bananas. This week has been the first week back for some of the children and they have all settled in to the daily routine well. This week we have focussed on the children's communication and language skills, in particular, listening and attention. The children have sat beautifully for story time and carpet time, and followed Jump Start Johnny for some physical development before snack time. This week we have began a three week topic, all about Africa and going on Safari. We will be looking at the stories, ‘Dear Zoo’, ‘Walking through the jungle’, and ‘The Rumble In The Jungle’ We have been focusing on the story Dear Zoo in particular this week🦒🐘🐍
The children have loved mark making in the rice tray, size ordering Zebra’s and painting different animals from the story. We watched the story Dear Zoo on the whiteboard and made the faces of how the animals were feeling.... the grumpy camel was a favourite face! 🐪 This was a great addition to reading the lift-the flap book, The little acorns have done some singing using the song bag and completing small group Maths activities daily - Please give me one.. snake/elephant please give me two... and sorted them into separate piles. 🐍🐘 The bigger Acorns (busy bees) have been on listening walks outside after watching the Dear Zoo story and completing more Maths group activities of comparing two groups of snakes/elephants. Which has more? Are they the same? During the focused carpet time the children had a go at prepositions, practitioners asked the Children to stand next to, in front of & behind their friends - they were all brilliant! ⭐️ The children have loved playing outside this week in between the rain showers and enjoying the Spring sunshine - some of the children have loved playing with the balls, kicking and catching. Have a lovely weekend and don't forget wellies and waterproofs each day, as we love exploring our outdoor provision. What beautiful weather we had this week, albeit a little chilly! The children have had great fun continuing their learning at home and in school, and exploring the snow in our outside area. Parents and carers at home have continued to send in the home learning that they are completing - you are doing a wonderful job and it is fantastic to receive and comment on your photos each day.
This week, the children in school have continued their 'On the Farm' topic, learning about the story of The Little Red Hen in particular. Some children made their very own little red hen picture .While creating the pictures we talked about what happened in the story and put the events into order. Some children this week had a go at making their own jam sandwiches, spreading the butter and the jam. Everyone waited brilliantly for their friends to have a go. We so proud of you all for the progress you have made in taking turns and being patient! ⭐️ On Friday, we said Good Bye to Gemma as she leaves us to start her maternity leave - we look forward to welcoming Gemma back later in the year and wish her all the best for their new arrival. We hope you have a wonderful half-term break and enjoy the outdoors as much as possible. Take care. This week, we have been focusing our play and learning around the theme “On The Farm”. We have been super busy doing a variety of activities from playing in our role play farm shop to making sawdust pigs. The children have loved exploring all areas of learning linking to this topic and being able to relate to the animals and pictures from their previous experiences. The children particularly enjoyed making cotton wool sheep, fork print chicks, chalk drawing farm animal on the ground outside and having a go at some scissors practice activities.
On Wednesday, the children joined the whole school assembly on Zoom. listening well to Miss Chauhan and looking at the home learning shared. On Friday, the children listened attentively to the story of The Three Billy Goats Gruff - we then decided to make our own goats. |
