Hi Everyone
I hope you are well. It is looking lovely out there. This week, the children have been having some tests which they have worked extremely hard at and shown some great progress. We have been really proud of their fantastic attitudes and they way in which they have tackled these. They all deserve a massive well done and we have had some extra play! We had a lovely time researching our writing by looking at Greek myths. The children have chosen a Greek God or Goddess (or maybe two) for their story and they have chosen their own monster as well. In maths, we are continuing our learning on shape. In computing, they have started their animation unit by looking at flick books. Next week, we are starting to look at Sports Day type activities in PE based on throwing, jumping and sprinting. We are going to finish our Greek stories. We are going to finish our geography work about Greece by comparing it to the UK and start to learn more about Ancient Greece. We hope you have a lovely weekend. Home learning is in their reading folders and a copy is on the Dojo. Miss Keen and Ms Ruby Hi Everyone
I hope you are well. I can't believe it is nearly July. We have had another busy week. The children took part in a rocket making workshop on Monday. The tested their rockets in the hall and had great fun learning the science behind the rockets. The children have worked on an early draft of our Ancient Greek adventure stories. They have written some very exciting paragraphs on killing sea monsters! I have been very impressed. We are looking forward to writing the final stories next week when the children can choose their own Greek god or goddess and their own Greek monster. In Maths, we have started looking at shape including angles. We have also started to look at vertical, horizontal, perpendicular and parallel lines. We will continue this next week. We have started to research what life would be like in Greece and the UK. We will compare them next week. We hope you have a fantastic weekend. Hope the children enjoy a well-earned rest. See you next week, Miss Keen and Ms Ruby Hi Everyone
I hope you have had a good week in the sunshine. It is definitely summer now! The children have had another epic week. We have really enjoyed learning about Greek Gods and Goddesses. We are going to use elements of our research from Greece and Ancient Greece in our story writing over the next couple of weeks. We have also started some learning on the geography of Greece. We have found it on a map using an atlas and found it on the globe. We have also started to look at the geographical features of Greece. In maths, we have finished learning about time and have moved on to shape and angles. They have also been thinking about what makes a good friend. The children have their home learning in their reading folders. For next week, we are looking forward to the science workshop on rockets which will take place on Monday. We are also looking forward to writing our stories and learning more about angles. We hope you have a good weekend. Miss Keen and Ms Ruby
Hi Everyone
It is the last Friday before half term. It looks as if it might actually be sunny and a bit warmer! The children have finished writing their stories about our abandoned planet. They have been amazing at remembering how to use commas and apostrophes. We also had some fantastic adjectives to describe all the rubbish piled up on the planet. In maths, we are continuing with time after half term. Telling the time to the nearest minute is quite tricky especially the to times e.g. twenty-two minutes to four, so we will keep practising. There is a link to a game below which the children can use to practise. https://mathsframe.co.uk/en/resources/resource/117/telling-the-time-in-words We will all have finished sewing by the end of today and planted our pea plants out in a large tub for them to grow on. The children have made some amazing observations about what conditions plants need to grow based on our experiments. We have also looked at how water is transported in plants and saw how coloured water turned the petals a different colour. In reading, we have been looking at how to answer comprehension questions and retrieve information from what we have read. There is no homework this week as it is half term next week. Please keep reading during the holidays. Next half term, we are looking forward to learning all about modern and ancient Greece. We are starting a new book called Oliver and the Seawigs. We hope you have a fantastic half term and look forward to seeing all the children on their return. Thanks to the children for all their hard work and to you for your support. Miss Keen and Ms Ruby . Hi Everyone
I hope you are well and have enjoyed not being quite so locked down. Despite the wind and rain, the children have had a busy week. We have been talking about vehicles in French and learning to weave friendship bracelets in art. The children wrote a first draft of our abandoned building stories and started telling the time in maths. In PSHE, we continued our work on safety and we had lots of children completing their home learning on this subject. We have looked at safety around the school, home, water, road and fireworks. We are continuing to learn how to play tennis in PE. Next week, it is the last week before half term. We are going to continue telling the time and writing our stories. They will have singing and music with Mrs Matthews as normal on a Tuesday morning. We are going to finish our science on plants and plant out our pea plants. Perhaps we will even get some peas! We will also write up our results and conclusions. Thank you so much for all your support and to the children for being brilliant - as always! Have a great weekend. Miss Keen I hope you have had a good week. The children have completed their fractions learning by learning how to add and subtract fractions. In art, they have been practising weaving with paper and will continue doing this next week. Our pea plants have been growing steadily and the children have been measuring them every week. We will plant them out before half term. In English, we started to learn all about The Paperbag Prince. It has a great message about nature not giving up which we have spent a bit of time thinking about. The children have also been continuing learning about being safe by starting to look at water safety today. Thank you for the amazing home safety posters. We discussed them today. Today, we have really enjoyed sharing our favourite books and reading in our pyjamas.
Next week, we are beginning to plan stories about abandoned places. We will be starting a maths unit on time. The children have to learn how to tell the time to the nearest minute in Year 3. We are also going to be looking at how water and nutrients move inside plants. Home learning will be in their reading folders and I will post it on Class Dojo as well. I hope you have a fantastic weekend. Well done, Willow Class! You have had another great week. MIss Keen and Ms Ruby Hello Everyone, Wow! I have been blown away by the children's writing in their explanation texts. They have used some great sentences to explain what is happening and used some fantastic technical language. The children have enjoyed investigating equivalent fractions using equipment. They have also been learning how to keep safe in the home, checking how their seeds have grown, performing their cowboy song and tie dying in art. Next week, we are starting a new book in English called The Paperbag Prince. We are continuing to learn about plants and learning words for French vehicles. On Friday 14th May, we will have our special reading in pyjamas day. We hope you have a fantastic weekend. Miss Keen and Ms Ruby Hi Everyone I hope you are well. It is a fantastically sunny Friday. We have had another great week this week. The children are gaining lots of new skills in debating and becoming really confident at talking in front of the class. They have started their Computing Unit on Scratch and learning more about how to code. In English, we have written a class text explaining how static electricity works and, in Maths, the children have been looking at tenths as decimals and fractions. They have planted peas in jars to see how they grow and started to explore what plants needs to survive. In DT, they have designed a game or toy that uses static electricity. Today, we are looking forward to completing our Captain Tom Challenge. Many thanks for your donations. Next week, we will continue to learn more about plants and see if the peas have started growing. We will also be writing an explanation text about an appliance or motor that we have researched ourselves. Thank you, as ever, for your support. Have a great bank holiday! Miss Keen |
