Hi Everyone
We are extremely proud of all Willow Class's achievements this half term. They have been fantastic mathematicians and are getting to grips with three-digit numbers and explaining what they have learnt using mathematical language. They have written thoughtful and well-observed poems and have also written interesting, well-researched biographies. They have acquired new knowledge in geography about different settlements and we are hoping to put that knowledge to the test with a walk around our settlement - North Tawton. In our PE sessions, Mr Berry has been focusing a lot on teamwork and how to ensure they can work together constructively as a team. They have also been learning lots of ball skills and playing mini games against each other. In PSHE, we have looked at different emotions and family life. I hope you have a fantastic break over the half term. There is no home learning for the half term but please keep reading! Have a great break. Miss Keen Hello Everyone
I hope you are well. It is looking lovely again outside. It was lovely to speak to so many of you on Parents Evening. Thank you for making the time. The children have earned a lot of Dojos and Class Nuggets this week. They have shown outstanding behaviour, as ever, lots of perseverance and a real maturity in our class discussions. We are continuing our learning about addition and subtraction. We have looked at what happens when you add ones and tens to a three-digit number. We are using place value and number facts to help us. In English, we have been practising writing biographies by writing about a Stone Age boy or girl. We have also been writing a day in the life of someone from the Stone Age in history. We started out Geography learning by learning about why people might live in a village, town or city. For next week, the children are continuing with addition and subtraction. We are writing our own biography. If the children would like to choose someone, they have a sheet for homework to do this. Please fill this out and bring it back on Monday. I have really enjoyed seeing all the great home learning today in the books I had. Hope you have a great rest of the week and weekend. Miss Keen Hi Everyone
Hi Everyone
I hope you have had a good week. Autumn has very definitely arrived. We are nearly at the end of our place value unit. The children are beginning to have a much better understanding of three-digit numbers. In English, we have started to look at how biographies are written and we will continue this next week. In Science, we have drawn a diagram for our investigation. A specialist teacher came in on Monday to give them a French lesson and she will return every week. They have been practising learning to say their name. We have started our learning on Prehistoric Britain by learning about how life started on Earth. Next week, we are having a Stone Age afternoon. Please bring in boots for Wednesday if it looks wet. I will send a reminder on Dojo. On Tuesday, please bring in a small, wheeled vehicle to explore friction. Home learning will come home on Friday. Please complete by Thursday. A big thank you to everyone who completed it this week. We have been extremely impressed with the children's continuing independence. Hope you have a good Friday and weekend! Miss Keen Hi Everyone
I hope you have had a great week. There have been lots of exciting things happening this week. We finished writing our poems about famous paintings and we finished our block on computing by having a scavenger hunt around school to find devices that make up the school computing network. In RE, we continued our learning about the Christian creation story. In our class assembly, we look at resilience and what it means to be resilient. I have been awarding Dojo points for children that have shown this. The children had another PE lesson focusing on team work today. Next week, we will start learning about the Stone Age in history. We will also start learning about biographies in English and in maths we will continue our place value learning. We will have French on Monday from a specialist teacher. Home learning books will be coming home on Fridays with home learning. Please write the reading in the back of the book. The Friday blog will be going out early on Thursday evening! The children have made a great start to the new term and should be very proud of themselves. We have been busy getting used to being back together with other years groups during assemblies and play times as well as getting used to the new year 3 classroom. We have been learning about well-being in PSHE and thinking about our own strengths. We have made paper chains with our own strengths on and are going to be linking these together with other classes. They have been focusing on the Olympics during assembly time and enjoyed learning skills for hockey, cricket, basketball and tennis during our PE lesson All the children will take home home learning tomorrow and their logins for Number Bots and Times Table Rock Stars. We are waiting for the new reading diaries to arrive so please record reading on the piece of paper attached to their home learning. Next week, we will begin our maths unit on place value. We have completed some short assessment activities in preparation already. We are looking at a book of poetry based on paintings next week in English and we will start our computing unit. The children will also be having art, music and French with Ms Boyce every week. We are looking forward to a fun term. , Hi Everyone This is the last ever blog for this school year! The children have chosen a few of their highlights to talk about in assembly this afternoon. I've put them below. I have said it a lot but we are really are proud of the way that the children have persevered this year in this difficult year. When their grandchildren ask them what they did during the Covid epidemic, they will have many stories to tell of their courage and determination. They are always ready to smile and laugh while they tackle their learning. They have been great role models and inspired each other and us. A huge, huge, thank you for you for everything you have done this year for them and us. It has been an absolute pleasure (although maybe not getting squirted with water) and I know Ms Radbourne will have an amazing year with them this year. I hope you have a fantastic summer and look forward to seeing the children around school next year. Here are some of their memories... This year, we have enjoyed writing adventure stories, learning map skills on the computer, coding using Scratch, singing songs, learning to play the recorder, spending time with the teachers, having our water fight, making rockets, tie dying T-shirts, making puppet mice with Mrs Chauhan, eating apples with honey for Rosh Hashanah, helping out around school and having a fun last day. Thanks again Miss Keen, Ms Ruby, Ms Squires and Ms Jelley PS Best class ever! Hi Everyone I can't believe this is our last Friday. What a year it has been! We are all massively proud of the children for their resilience and good humour throughout this year whether they were learning in school or out. This week has been as busy as ever. We have been continuing our learning on capacity and weight as well as reading poems. We are picking our favourite ones to perform next week. The children have had a talk from the RNLI about staying safe in the water ready for the summer holidays. With this lovely weather, we are expecting lots of us to be going off to the beach. We have learnt about who the Ancient Greeks were and what life might be like for a family in Ancient Greece. Next week, we are looking forward to our Nugget Treat on the last day of term. We are going to be having some kind of water fight - more details to follow! We are also going to be trying some Greek food. We hope you have a fab weekend in the sun. Miss Keen and Ms Ruby Hi Everyone I hope you are well. We are really looking forward to our Sports Day activities this afternoon. They have included a Greek God and Goddess of their own choice and a monster from a Greek myth. We have finished our unit on properties of shapes by looking at 2D and 3D shapes. We have listened to the NSPCC Speak Out, Stay Safe assembly in PSHE and learnt how important it can be to say if we think something is wrong.
